Garage Door Springs come in many sizes based on the weight and height of your garage door.  In order to achieve the maximum cycle life of your garage door springs you will need to know the weight and height of your garage door

This can be achieved by placing an ANALOG household bathroom scale under the garage door.

Measure Extension Springs        
 
Note:  If your door is 7' tall and  weighs 180lbs, You require a pair of 25x42x180 extension springs.
          If your door is 8' tall and weighs 220lbs, You require a pair of 27x48x220 extension springs.
          We also carry extension springs for 9-12' tall doors. 

Note:  25 x 42 Extension Spring is roughly 67" fully stretched

How to weigh your garage door:

1. Raise the door to the full position and secure with C-clamp or locking pliers (vice-grips) in track below bottom roller.

2. Remove the springs from the door.

3. For a one car opening, lower the door onto one bathroom scale in the center of the door and read the weight. For a double door (16 ft. wide or larger) use two bathroom scales. Locate the scales two feet in from each side. Take the weight of both scales and add together for door weight.

4. Measure door height. Standard height is 7ft. 7ft doors require 25" x 42" extension springs. If your door is 8ft. high, refer to 27" x 48" extension springs. Additional Extension Spring Help
