  1. Graham,I know this c 4 Star Review

Graham,I know this comment is wayhyyy late, but I am still a newbie to this site so I am going back checking out the articles. I think this is definitely an interesting one! All I have is the MBox,mic and computer. I don't use any other hardware, so I had to improvise. I like to use the HPF going in before my audio hit's the track. As you mentioned, having hardware that allows you to do this is great, but when you don't you have to come up with other unique tricks that can get you the same results as the hardware. So what I like to do is set up an auxilary track first. I put an eq plugin on that track, as well as an compression plugin on that track. I place an HPF on the eq plugin, and slight compression on the compressor plugin. Once that is done I buss all my vocals through that aux. Now all the unwanted things in my vocals are rolled off and my vocals are nicely compressed. One of my friends told me (and I believe to be true) that most people believe that the mix starts after the song is recorded. But, when you think about it, the mix starts as soon as you set up your session. So I do this little trick, because I don't use any other hardware, and it really makes a huge difference and cuts out some steps for me when I am putting my final touches on the song at the end! I am sure there are many who already know this, and do this, but for those who do not know this, I hope it helps. Thanks Graham for this site, it is awesome! To God Be the Glory,Clifton L. Boyd
